What are the Practice Dates, Times, or Locations?
Practices are scheduled by the Team's head coach. During the Preseason the Little League allows use of the Chipper Jones Fields for specific dates/time which are determined once the team rosters are complete.  Once the season begins, practices are scheduled by the Head Coach of each team, not assigned by the Little League.

What are the Game Schedules? Because schedules can vary based on the number of players, game schedules are created once the registration is closed and teams are formed.

Can my 3 year old play t-ball? Unfortunately they must be at least 4 years old in order to play in Deland Little League, per Little League rules and league insurance coverage.

What happens if I have a conflict with practice and game scheduling? We strongly encourage you to do your best to work with the coach to make practices and all games. If for some reason a solution can not be worked out, you may request a refund prior to the beginning of the season but will be refunded less the cost of the league insurance and uniform.  The Board of Directors reserves the right to refuse a refund based on a particular situation, and no refunds are given after opening day.

I have two boys, can they both be on the same team? Yes. As long as they reside in the same residence within our league boundaries, siblings will be placed on the same team if they play in the same league.  However, cousins, neighbors, friends, etc... are not intentionally placed on the same team, as the number of requests the league has historically received has been large and we are unable to accommodate them all.  Because of this, we use a draft player allotment for all league except t-ball. We also do this to keep the integrity of the game in place by taking steps to ensure parity among the teams and prevent "stacked" teams from being formed.

I would like to get involved in coaching, how can I go about doing that? When you register your son or daughter, you will be given an option to volunteer for any number of positions which we need including concessions, scorekeepers, and coaches.  In order to volunteer, you must complete  the online application so the Deland Little League can run a background check on you. This is required for all volunteers including board members, coaches, umpires, etc...  Coaching Positions are not guaranteed simply because an application was submitted, based on number of teams available, prior incidence/discipline with the league, and Board of Directors discretion. We contact Head Coaches that have been selected once registration closes and they are required to attend a coaches clinic and player draft (except for t-ball where no draft takes place).  Head coaches are also required to have at least one active CPR certified coach on their staff (or themselves may be certified), and must provide proof of certification.  No one is entitled to a team based on previous coaching experience, sponsorship, or relationships. We do however like to retain coaches who have done an outstanding job and coach from season to season with no disciplinary issues.  This is a means of encouraging year-round participation and involvement from our great coaches!

I don't want to be a Head Coach but would like to be an assistant? Assistant Coaches are selected by each team's Head Coach. The Board of Directors does not pre-assign assistant coaches. However, many coaches are looking for great volunteers to help them so if you are interested, please complete the volunteer form for an assistant coach regardless, so we have your information on file and can conduct the background check if selected.

What happens if I don't pass a background check? Unfortunately you will not be allowed to volunteer in any role with the Deland Little League. Insurance and liability prevents us from allowing any non-approved volunteer from participating in activities with the children.

I really want to be on (Insert name) coaches team. We do not take player requests* and have a draft process in place to keep league parity in place.  *For t-ball we do allow you to add a coach's name but they are not guaranteed.  Player trades are not allowed once the teams are set.

The Umpire made a terrible call and I want to complain. You're not alone. Unfortunately, they are human and make mistakes just as we all do. Please remember your child is playing Little League Baseball, not being scouted by the New York Yankees.  As they continue to play there will be thousands of games and some will have bad calls.  As a parent, you agree to the Little League Code of conduct when you register or volunteer. So any infraction of that Code of Conduct may result in you being removed from the premises.  Let's put the kids first and leave our grievances to ourselves when it comes to calls during the games. Only the Coaches are empowered to respectfully speak with umpires if they disagree with a call. Profanity, rude comments, or obscene gestures will result in you being ejected; and I can assure you no child wants to see or hear about their mom or dad being ejected.
